About

Anene Clair Ukaigwe, MD, is a board-certified interventional cardiologist and member of the Valve and Structural Heart Disease Center at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute, with particular focus in the transcatheter tricuspid valve intervention program.

Dr. Ukaigwe earned her medical degree from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, where she also completed a surgery residency at the University College Hospital. She then completed an internal medicine residency program at the Reading Health System in Pennsylvania, followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Penn State University/Hershey Medical Center. Dr. Ukaigwe went on to complete two more fellowship programs, one in interventional cardiology at Beth Israel Lahey Health System in Burlington, Massachusetts, and the other in structural heart disease interventions at Minneapolis Heart Institute/Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Dr. Ukaigwe has special interests in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, transcatheter therapies for aortic, mitral and tricuspid valve diseases as well as left atrial appendage occlusion for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation. She has authored numerous publications and given presentations on these topics at local and national professional meetings.
